Transatlantic Feminist Art Exchange Study Day Part II: Decolonising Translation

The event explores how we might challenge conventional translation practices that are often shaped within imperialist structures and discourses. Isabel Waidner and Ego Ahaiwe Sowinski discuss and reflect on their process of translating an interview with artist and pioneering archivist Rita Keegan about the Women of Colour Index archive
from a queer, decolonialist perspective. Originally recorded in 2015, the interview was translated as part of forthcoming exhibition Dark Energie, Vienna. This event aims to encourage wider discussion around what it means to decolonise translation using queer feminist methodologies.

Ego Ahaiwe Sowinski and Isabel Waidner in discussion - using email extracts, original audio. Followed by a roundtable discussion with WOCI Reading Group & special guest Rita Keegan.
The event will also include a reading from Iranian poet Ziba Karbassi.
