An Evening of Gamelan Music & Dance

As part of the PureGold festival, we present “Sunda Sounds”, an evening of varied gamelan degung music and dance, featuring the artists-in-residence Lili Suparli and Rudi Mukhram, who are visiting Goldsmiths from Sunda, Indonesia.

Led by the eminent artists-in-residence, the Goldsmiths Gamelan Group, directed by Barley Norton and Jasmine Hornabrook, will perform traditional and popular pieces on the Sundanese gamelan degung orchestra and an array of other instruments. The concert will feature drumming by Lili Suparli, dance by Rudi Mukhram and new compositions by Goldsmiths composers Dan Ross and James Bulley.

The artists-in-residence programme for Lili Suparli and Rudi Mukhram in the Asian Music Unit (AsMU) at Goldsmiths is sponsored by the Indonesian Embassy in London.
