Event enabling Year 12, Year 13 and mature students to find out more about the experience of studying a qualifying law degree.

“I remember walking into the courtroom and . . . it felt really empowering, actually, to stand in the benches and to prepare the case with my counsel and to confer with my solicitors.” Fabian, LLB Law, reflecting on a mock trial at the Royal Courts of Justice as part of the Goldsmiths LLB Law programme.

Taking the role of a juror, being part of the prosecution or defence in a mock trial, and learning from visiting professors who are internationally recognised experts in their area of practice are just some of the professional study experiences that are part of the LLB law degrees at Goldsmiths.

This event enables Year 12, Year 13 and mature students to find out more about the experience of studying a qualifying law degree that also incorporates training for the new Solicitors Qualifying Examinations (SQE).
Head of the Department of Law, Professor Dimitrios Giannoulopoulos, will explain how the LLB courses bring together theory and practice, and provide you with the opportunity to develop expertise in specialist areas such as criminal justice, human rights, and the interplay of law and politics. This is contextualised by visiting places where law is practised – from the Royal Courts of Justice and the Inns of Court to community-based legal clinics. He will also cover the department’s extensive connections with London’s legal community including solicitors, barristers, advocates, judges and lobbyists, who contribute and share their experience and expertise.
Dr Virginie Barral, will provide an overview of the innovative teaching methods that are used across each year of study.

Dr Fatima Ahdash and Dr Mai Taha investigate UK law's ability to deliver social justice, taking their examples from race, COVID-19 and the Black Lives Matter Movement.

We’ll also hear from current law students and members of the Law Society.
