A panel discussion on the state of local journalism in Britain today.

An exciting line-up to discuss one of the most troubling issues of our times: the closing of hundreds of local newspaper titles across Britain in the past 20 years.
The panel:
• Robert Thompson, BBC London and BBC East's Senior Head of Content Production
• Natalie Bloomer, reporter, The Bureau of Investigative Journalism
• Darryl Chamberlain, founder of London’s local websites and a company to run them. Currently runs local news site Greenwich Wire
The panel will discuss what, if anything can be done, about the decline of local news media considering it is local journalism that holds local authorities and public services to account and helps build community cohesion.
Panel chair: Dr Rashmee Roshan Lall, Goldsmiths
