This workshop is part of STaCS department's EDI (Equality, Diversity, Inclusion) events, organised by Dr Atlas Torbati.

This workshop focuses on the impact of disabilities on mental health and wellbeing of individuals, delivered by Dr Carmen Yau.

Dr Carmen Yau is a Lecturer in Social Work at STaCS department.She is a certified sexuality educator (2019). She is also a Mental Health First Aid Champion awarded by the MHFA England (2022). In 2022, she was recently nominated for the UN Women USA Rise and Raise Others Award in the Reducing Inequality Category. She won Spirit of Hong Kong in 2013. In 2020, She was featured in Tatler’s Hot List of “Sixteen Women Fighting for Fairness in Asia”.

Her research and advocacy work focuses on equality, diversity, and inclusion for people with different forms of disability. Her research and knowledge transfer projects aim to align with the UN CRPD and CEDAW agenda across the globe.
