In conversation with Joseph Galliano-Doig, Director of Queer Britain, and Gerard Koskovich, a founder of the GLBT Historical Society, San Francisco.
Preserving, celebrating and sharing LGBTQ+ histories is both necessary and urgent. But what is the best way to do so, and what challenges do queer museums face in addressing the needs of queer people while also curating a space to share our stories with wider audiences?
At this exceptional international event, we will be joined in person by Joseph Galliano-Doig (He/Him), Director and Co-Founder of Queer Britain, the UK's national LGBTQ+ museum, and Gerard Koskovich (He/Him), a founding member of San Francisco's GLBT Historical Society.

Joseph Galliano-Doig is the Director and Co-Founder of Queer Britain, the UK's first LGBTQ+ museum. He is a former editor of Gay Times magazine and in a peripatetic career, has been a book editor, major donor fundraiser, third sector celebrity liaison manager and was deputy CEO for an LGBT+ Business leaders network.
Gerard Koskovich is a historian, curator and rare book dealer. A founding member of the GLBT Historical Society in San Francisco and a member of the Collectif Archives LGBTQI in Paris, he has been active in the movement to create LGBTQ archives and museums for more than four decades. Koskovich also has presented widely, including featured talks at the Ecole du Louvre, Kyoto University and Oxford University. His writing has appeared widely in the United States and Europe. He also has curated numerous exhibitions on LGBTQ history and culture since 1984. Most recently he has focused on the work of homosexual and transgender emancipation pioneer Dr. Magnus Hirschfeld (18681935); on the history of queer history as a cultural practice in the United States; and on LGBTQ place-based history, preservation and intangible cultural heritage.
