Dr Zupic has received the award for his paper ‘Bibliometric Methods in Management and Organization.’
Now in its sixth year, the 10-Year Impact Awards recognise research in Sage journals with lasting influence.
The 2025 awards honour the most-cited papers published in Sage journals in 2014, meaning that the winning articles have received more citations over the past decade than any others published by global academic publisher Sage that year.
The winners this year are:
- ‘Bibliometric Methods in Management and Organization’ by Ivan Zupic and Tomaž Čater in Organizational Research Methods
- ‘Qualitative Content Analysis: A Focus on Trustworthiness’ by Satu Elo, Maria Kääriäinen, Outi Kanste, Tarja Pölkki, Kati Utriainen, and Helvi Kyngäs in Sage Open
Dr Zupic is a Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship in the Institute of Management Studies (IMS).
When I wrote that paper as a PhD student, I never imagined it would be so widely read. I'm truly glad that we've created something valuable for fellow researchers.

“Research impact in the social and behavioral sciences unfolds gradually, through complex and long-term processes that conventional metrics struggle to capture,” said Ziyad Marar, president of global publishing at Sage. “The 10-Year Impact Awards attest to the enduring quality and lasting relevance of scholarship in fields often undervalued by short-term measures of success. Being an independent publisher allows us to look beyond traditional metrics to broaden perspectives on how impact is recognized in those disciplines across the globe.”
